TIBET- EXTENDED LHASA TOUR

DETAILED ITINERARY:

Day 1: Kathmandu Arrival
Kathmandu arrival and transfer to hotel. Check-in and refresh. In the evening, enjoy Nepali dinner with cultural program.
Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 2: Kathmandu Full Day Sightseeing
After breakfast at hotel, proceed for sightseeing of Kathmandu city, includes Pashupatinath Temple, one of the holy temple for Hindus and Buddhist in the world dedicated to Lord Shiva at the bank of holy Bagmati River.
Boudhanath Stupa, One of the biggest Stupas in South Asia.
Bhaktapur Durbar Square, a city of devotees.
Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 3: Fly to Lhasa (3650 m) and drive to Tsedang (3400m /100 kms)
After breakfast, transfer to airport for 1 hour flight to Lhasa.
Upon arrival at Gongar Airport (Lhasa) meet with Tibetan guide and drive to Tsedang, Rest of the day free for acclimatization.

Day 4: Tsedang Sightseeing
After breakfast, visit to Yumbulakhang and Thandruk Monasteries.
Overnight at hotel in Tsedang.

Day 5: Drive from Tsedang to Gyantse (3950 M / 291 Km)
After breakfast, full day drive to Gyantse via beautiful Yamadrok Lake (Turquoise Lake).

Day 6: Drive from Gyantse to Shigatse (3900 M / 90 Km)
After breakfast, visit to Kumbum and  Phalkor Monasteries. Afternoon drive to Shigatse and visit to Tashilumphu Monastery.
Overnight at hotel in Shigatse.

Day 7: Drive from Shigatse to Lhasa (3650 M / 280 Km)
After breakfast, full day scenic drive back to Lhasa.

Day 8: Lhasa Sightseeing: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street
After breakfast, proceed for the sightseeing of Potala Palace, the winter palace of the Dalai Lama. It has been used since the 7th Century by the 33rd great King of Tibet. The most valuable collections are the gilded burial Stupas of past Dalai Lamas and meditation Cave of the 33rd great king of Tibet. Later, proceed to visit Jokhang Temple which was founded by the 33rd Great King of Tibet in the 7th century to promote the Buddhist religion. Inside the temple, you can see the statue of Buddha Sakyamuni at the age of twelve, perhaps the single most venerated object in Tibet Buddhism. Around the temple, you can do Kora to the Barkhor Street with the local pilgrims and at the same time, you can enjoy shopping.

Day 9: Lhasa Sightseeing: Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery
After breakfast, proceed to visit Drepung Monastery which was one of the ‘Three Great’ Gelug Monasteries of Tibet and was founded in 1416 by Jamyang Choge, one of the Tsongkhapa’s main disciples. Ganden palace is used as Dalai Lama’s palace in the Drepung before moving to the Potala Palace. Afternoon, visit to Sera Monastery, s one of the ‘Three Great’ Gelug Monasteries of Tibet and was founded in 1419 by Jamchen Chojey, one of the Tsongkhapa’s main disciples. The major highlight is the Monks debating at around 3 - 5 in the late afternoon.

Day 10: Fly from Lhasa to Kathmandu and Sightseeing
Breakfast at hotel and transfer to Gongar Airport for a flight to Kathmandu.
Kathmandu arrival and proceed for sightseeing of:
Swyombhunath Stupa also called Monkey Temple, a Stupa in a small hill of Kathmandu over viewing Kathmandu valley and the surrounding mountains.
Kathmandu Durbar Square, a beautiful square where you can see the living goddess, Kumari.
After sightseeing, walk 20 minutes to Thamel via the narrow street of Ason enjoying several monuments, local shops for spices, vegetable etc.
Thamel is a tourist hub and famous for multi cuisine restaurants, bars, clubs and for shopping.
Eve: Enjoy farewell dinner at one of the nice restaurant.

Day 11: Departure from Kathmandu or Extend Nepal Tour
Breakfast and timely transfer to airport for departure from Kathmandu.
